Point Cabrillo Lighthouse
mendocino, ca
Pt. Cabrillo Lighthouse dates back to 1909 and is identified by her flashing white light every 10 seconds that can be seen from twenty-two miles away. The light is eighty-one feet above sea level.
Lighthouse keepers reportedly loved to serve at Pt. Cabrillo. It offered spacious quarters and acres of rich soil for vegetable gardens and raising livestock.
The Coastal Conservancy purchased the Station in 1992. It is now the centerpiece of the 300 acre Point Cabrillo Preserve and accessible to the public sunrise to sunset, by pedestrian access only. The Station is a one half- mile walk from the entry.
