Point Abino Lighthouse

buffalo, ny and ontario canada

Built in 1917, this very popular Lake Erie lighthouse was automated in 1988 and then deactivated in 1996. Her tower stands ninety-eight feet high!

Canadians and Buffalo residents alike adopted this lighthouse as their own! She was built to replace the ill-fated Buffalo Lightship that sank with all hands in 1913.

The managing organization is the Town of Fort Erie and The Point Abino Lighthouse Preservation Society is responsible for the preservation of this beautiful place.

Viewing by boat is recommended!
